Another relaxing day in Waxahachie!
The weather is still delightful, as is the company.
Really didn't do much today, so there's not really anything to write about. Except ... Chicken a la King! I don't know what I've done to deserve it, but it seems like every time I show up in Waxahachie, Grandmother makes some Chicken a la King. Today we had it over toast. It's good over mashed potatoes as well. Evidently some people (charlatans?) eat it over rice or noodles. Curious as to why it's called "Chicken a la King?" This book will tell you!
Pop took us all out for dinner at Logan's Roadhouse. It was very tasty. I think I should start recording his conversations with waitresses ... could be a gold mine there. Also, if you know Gram (I think you do), you won't be surprised to learn that her favorite part of the meal was the buckets and buckets of peanuts whose shells you can just throw on the floor!
After visiting with Tobey and Karen, we watched True Grit, the 1969 John Wayne classic. Film enthusiast that I am, I needed to watch this to educate and prepare myself for the soon-to-be-released Coen brothers adaptation. Check out the trailer - it looks pretty awesome!
